  • No Flake Firing Foil (2 sheets), firing container, bowl

Keep your kiln clean with this specal Make a custom sized firing box that won't flake in the kiln. Use the box to fire any brand and type of fast fire metal clay that requires carbon firing. No-Flake Firing Foil can be fired multiple times without ever flaking

No-Flake Firing Foil is perfect for firing bronze clay, copper clay, PMC PRO, and Accent Silver. Fine silver clays can also be sintered in a No-Flake Pan. Firing fine silver in carbon is a good way to incorporate low-fire cubic zirconia, lab and natural gems (including diamonds) that would change color or be damaged if fired on an open kiln shelf. If you've fired metal clay in a stainless steel vessel, you know what a mess it makes of the inside of the kiln and around the pan. Stainless steel makes a good container for carbon firing because it won't melt at the high temperatures needed to sinter metal clays, but the extreme heat oxidizes and expands the metal. Then, as it cools, tiny flakes of oxidized stainless steel begin popping off the surface in a process called "spalling". If you listen closely, you can hear it. You can also watch it happening. Spalling can go on for hours after a firing leaving black flecks everywhere. No-Flake Firing Foil solves this problem by using a special alloy that does not spall. Includes instructions for folding a firing box that can be made to any size you desire
