Our Metal Clay Journey Since 2006
Carrie Steele, started this business with her bestie Cara-Lee Ireland and her ex-partner, back in 2006.
As early adopter of metal clay, Carrie and Cara-Lee became Art Clay Senior Certifying instructors. As an educator, Carrie was drawn to the standardization of instruction that ArtClay offered at the time. She felt that teachers should have standardized education OR be very versed in their medium of instruction.
As no information was available online at that time (how things have changed!) with all the books available in Japanese only, they were lucky if they could find English translations.
In order to introduce and expose others to their passion for metal clay, Carrie and Carla-Lee set out to certify other instructors who could introduce people to this amazing medium.
Over the years the business has gone through several transitions and names. Originally starting as Spirit of the Rock, then Art Clay Canada to Metal Clay Alchemist in 2011.
Operating Metal Clay Alchemist while working a full time job at the Edmonton Journal (when papers were a thing), became overwhelming as Carries partner slowly fazed out of business operations and Cara-lee developed ALS.
In order to keep Metal Clay Alchemist running, Carrie sacrificed her full time employment and launch head first into every aspect of the business. She was determined to not let the dream she shared with Carla-Lee fade.
Based on her determination back then, Metal Clay Alchemist has grown to be Canada's largest online metal clay tools and products supplier. This was accomplished in large part due to Carries daughters playing a crucial role in the day to day operations.
Through collaboration, Metal Clay Alchemist is constantly growing and modernizing systems to meet todays demanding online presence standards and provide the very best experience on our website.
This combined with the original focus of supporting metal clay artist through guidance, learning and providing exceptional service, is how we promote the PASSION of metal clay jewelry making.
