"OK great news - while in lockdown I wrote and did a whole book on my extraordinary and unbelievable good fortune in being in the right place at the right time to fully document the carving and raising of a totem pole at Government House in Victoria, BC.
Of course I hobnobbed with the Gov. and famous carvers, was on the inside for all and even ended up working on the pole.
The book is 90 pages from cover to cover with 200 images, maps, historical, lots of First Nations and cool moments.
The story actually involves two poles of the same name, one carved in 1959 and the other in 2012.
There are burial ceremonies, blessing ceremonies, carving, raising ceremonies, lots of people and First Nations in traditional costumes and just a way cool documentary on how a totem pole is carved!"
